Stories have to be told or they die, and when they die, we can’t remember who we are or why we’re here.
— Sue Monk Kidd

I want to preserve your family's history. I want to keep the stories of your ancestors alive through the main vessel of those stories: your family recipes. Share your kitchen with me. Spend a day cooking, telling the stories stirred up by heat of the kitchen, and the traditions surrounding your dish. Food is not pretentious: it does not have to be beautiful, nor intimidating.

The goal of this project is to shed light on the long lines of immigrant lineage in the U.S., and to follow those blood lines through history, retelling their stories along the way. I want to help families reclaim the narrative of their food, to teach others about how the vast immigrant population shaped this nation's food, and maybe listen to a few good stories along the way.

What about this dish inspires you? What about it comforts you? Who taught you how to make it? Are there any traditions surrounding this dish? The more specific you are, the easier it will be for us to build your narrative, and tell your story.
